Amash amendment is a step in the right direction.

NSA’s authority is bogus because the Patriot Act is based on lies.

Thanks to Snowden we know what the NSA has been up too, at least in part. I’m sure it’s worse than we’re told. NSA justifies it’s massive surveillance opp known as PRISM by authority granted in Section 215 of the USA Patriot Act. The Patriot Act of course is legislation that came in response to 9-11-01, under the guise of keeping America safe from terrorists.

On Monday, Rep. Justin Amash [R-MI] introduced an amendment to the Defense Appropriations bill which would defund the program, ending NSA’s blanket collection authority. Today it passed the committee.

In response to the Amash amendment, NSA head Gen. Keith Alexander scheduled a last-minute, Top Secret/SCI-level, members-only briefing to lobby against the first House amendment to challenge the agency’s authority.

The common defense for such broad powers revolves around the notion that it keeps us safer. That line however, has not gone undisputed.

In a statement Wednesday, Sens. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Mark Udall (D-Colo.) argued that The National Security Agency’s massive collection of Americans’ phone records has “played little or no role” in the disruption of dozens of terrorist plots.

Online activists have launched a website called “Defund the NSA” in order to collect signatures in support of the Amash amendment that would bar federal funding for warrantless surveillance of Americans.

The real tragedy in all of this is that the official story of what went down on September, 11 2001 is not true. The massive growth of government since that day is predicated on a lie. The Patriot Act should repealed in it’s entirety and a full investigation into September 11th should be carried out. The 9-11 commission was a joke. Members of the commission have repeatedly stated as much in interviews and books.

The supposed looming threat of another terrorist attack has served to compel Americans to part ways with their liberty and support endless preemptive wars, for what amounts to a false sense of security from what is in reality a tertiary threat. If America ceases to be the land of the free and home of the brave, the failure certainly won’t be the result some external aggressor. No, It will most certainly come from within.

Two of my very favorite 9-11 truths…
1. According to Flight 77’s Flight Data Recorder – released by our own government, the cockpit doors never opened once during the entire flight.
2. Eight seconds before the alleged impact with the Pentagon, the data recorded mysteriously ended – reporting an elevation of over 300 feet.

There is a very interesting video you can watch if you’d like to learn more about what Flight data recorder expert Dennis Cimino, commercial pilot with more than 2000 hours, discovered after analyzing the flight data.
